Peter Chapman Poetry

colors s'il vous plait

take the blue of the bedroom walls
the yellow quilt, the bright off the chandelier,
the white pillows behind me, dawn, its shy light

take the big bone tiles of the bathroom floor
you're drying off on, brown/white body
in the mirror below the moviestar lights

take me in bed against the blue walls
below the painting, my book (red),
the soft hour, nothing yet, another Florida morning:
birds, palms shining in the heat

take the colors of coffee, newspapers

the silvers of my bicycle, the cool whites of your shoes
by the door, alors
