Peter Chapman Poetry

elephants and dolphins

i thought, hearing us laughing on the phone,
don't much care for logic or saving themselves

from sorrow, the ignoble parent,
the better, maybe, to show our way
of living out such careful days
by streaming dust or la mer azure,
with a maid's own lust

wants more range and sea,
not all this angst of being free
