Peter Chapman Poetry

old town

you can walk tough in an old town,
sleeves up and cover ground
sallow step and frown at the guys in trucks
or counter girls, take your rep right up
their tough little world, see what spills

new town talk & walk is cool
in the old town way of skipping school;
new town girls & new town boys
have less in their eyes but better toys
and you can move new town the way
fear blows through, papers flying
news to you
